The first picture is of downtown New Milford, Connecticut. This is where I grew up. In this screenshot you can see some of the things that I drew in my first picture of downtown New Milford. In the bottom right corner you can see a little bit of Big Y. The river and the bridge are visible towards the left of the screenshot, and the green is in the middle.
The second picture in my blog is my first drawing. This drawing is of downtown New Milford, CT that is shown in the first picture. On the left of the picture you can see Big Y (one of the grocery stores for the town) and then in the middle there is the green. On the green their is a tank and a gazebo. Surrounding the green is a movie theater, restaurants, and the town hall buildings. Each of the parts I wrote in are the main parts of this downtown green area.
The third picture in my blog is my other drawing. This drawing is of my house, high school, and hockey rink. Each of these things were very significant for me growing up. This is the house that I lived in from the age of one and a half to the age of just about 18 before moving to Charlotte for a parent’s job relocation. It is such an important place to me because of all the fun things that I experienced at this house and on this street. From playing in the snow on an inner tube being pulled by a quad to building a gigantic igloo, I think it was fair to say that I had a really good time living there. Behind the house was woods and on another side of the house was a field where little planes would take off. There were so many days where we would go exploring in the woods to find things like old tractor parts and hunting stuff. The drawing also includes my high school. Through the four years in high school I can say that I became who I am today. This place was a place in New Milford that really helped shape me. I would have countless band concerts here as well as make some really good friends that I am still pretty close to today. The final drawing on this page is of the hockey rink that I grew up playing at. This was a very important place to me because hockey was the sport that I played since I was 4 years old. The youth program used this rink and the high school used this rink as well. From breaking my leg in 3rd grade to winning huge games with 100’s of fans during high school, there were so many great memories made at this rink.
Each of these represent my hometown in a different way but they all had a positive impact on who I am today and how I grew up. The areas that I made sure to label on my map of downtown New Milford were definitely the areas that stood out to me when I was drawing the map. These were the areas that I made sure to label because they had a positive impact on my life. Through the screenshot we can see a little bit of a better representation of the town and how it is setup geographically.
